Can Houstonians renegotiate our relationship to water post-Harvey and in the face of climate change?
Washing Water is a project researching how creative sensory interventions in our communal creativity (make a waterscape) and individual intimate experiences (baths) might reconfigure our associations to abstract symbols (water) and relate to our public negotiation of citywide events (hurricanes) and even global phenomena (climate change).
In Phase 1 of the project, we are making waterscapes in a disco fishtank scale.
In Phase 2 of the project, 11 custom imagined bath experienced will be created based on points of views from each of the 11 city council districts, sourced from the waterscape scale.
Phase 1 Washing Water: Waterscape Making is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. Phase 2 Washing Water : Baths is funded in part by the IdeaFund Grant.
